Yay!

First, I'd like to say Happy Birthday to my friend Jaqueline at Diamond in the Dark! Today marks the first year of her wonderful blog's existence and I am so glad she started. I love you!
In other news, I received a letter from the University of New Mexico this week informing me that I am a recipient of their Amigo scholarship. This scholarship, worth about 14,000 dollars, gives me in state tuition. I'm super excited! My friends are all jealous because they are staying in state to go to school and my tuition is still less money than theirs! Haha, all joking aside, I can't wait to go to college. I'm still waiting to hear if I received the presidential or the regent's scholarship, but I have a good feeling about those, so I'm not that worried. Have a good weekend everyone!

Ditching

I am posting from home, like always. I took a 'mental health day' today. Basically, I'm ditching school. I know we just had a day off, but that didn't count. Today is so nice. I got caught up on house work and now I get to read, just for fun. I haven't done that in a while. I'll work on homework later and then I have swim practice and youth group. It is shaping up to be a fantastic day. Happy Wednesday!

Is it February Yet?

February is a weird word...look at how it's spelled...sorry, that was random. So Saturday was great. The bride was beautiful and the reception went very smoothly. Sunday was very busy too. But I did get to go shopping though.

Everyone knows TOMS shoes, right? Well, these aren't them. They are knock-offs from Payless, but they do the same thing. I love Payless. Just about all the shoes I own are from that store.

We had the day off from school today because it was a teacher work day. Our second semester starts tomorrow. I feel so behind...normally we would be starting our fourth week of second semester tomorrow, but instead we are starting our first. So dumb...Have a great week everyone!

What a Week

Oh my goodness. I am so thankful this week is over. Our semester ended this week, and finals were a pain in the butt. After years of never bringing home worse than an A-, I may have three B's on this report card. I've come to terms with that fact, because I know that I ultimately have nothing to complain about. I just won't be valedictorian, that's all. In ten years, high school grades won't matter, and at the end of the day, I did my best and my best is all that I can do. God still loves me, my parents still love me and my friends still love me. I'm glad that my grades don't define me. That would be horrible. In other news, I went shopping this week.
I bought a dress, a jacket and a hat. The jacket is purple fake leather and I love it. (I bought it at our new Burlington Coat Factory and I must say this is one of my new favorite stores.)

The hat is a little pinstriped fedora...love this as well. (Also from Burlington)

This dress I bought at Anchor Blue's going out of business sale. I tried it on just for fun, because I didn't think it would look good on me, but then when it was on, I fell in love, so I bought it. Now I just have to find somewhere to wear it...
Today, I'm going to the wedding reception for my ABS leader's daughter. She needed some help and I was more than happy to give it. I love weddings. I can't wait for my own, but mostly I can't wait for the guy God has picked out for me. I just have to remember that everything happens in God's time, not mine. Patience is indeed a virtue.

100 Books

My tumblr is now being used to document a new challenge I have created for myself. Read all about it here.

Books

I love getting new books. I love the crack of the brand new binding, the smell of untouched pages and the feel of the smooth new cover. That being said, I love my new books more when they are falling apart and well worn. The ones that look the worst are actually the best, because those are the ones I have read the most. I want a bookshelf that covers an entire wall filled to the brim with books. I will (probably) never switch to a Kindle or Nook. I love the process of picking up a book, turning the pages and sticking a bookmark in to save my place. Traveling with books can be a bit of a pain, but I am definitely willing to put up with it. Gutenberg is one of my heroes, because his printing press began it all. I especially appreciate what he did because he began with the Bible, my favorite book of all time. I have been branded the ultimate nerd, but I am perfectly content with this title. Reading has always been my favorite pastime and it probably always will be.

Well That Went Well...

Not. I had some ambitious goals for the weekend: finish my thousand word essay, work on AP psychology, do my laundry, start my diet, and study for my Spanish verb final. Yeah, I got maybe half of that done. I did work on psychology, but I didn't finish. I did study for Spanish, but I'm also not finished with that. I did, thankfully, finish my laundry. I started my diet, but after three days, I decided it wasn't worth it and caved (more on that later). I didn't even start my essay. Sadly, with all that said, it was still a productive weekend for me. The rest of this week is crazy busy. My teachers are piling things on for finals next week and some of them are giving us a really hard time about it. It's so awful. Graduation is five months from Saturday. I haven't started counting days yet, but the way this semester is ending tells me that I will be very soon. Yay for college!

Happy Catch-Up Day

Today is a do laundry, finish homework kind of day. Getting back into the swing of things was harder than I thought it would be. My body is protesting big time. Waking up is hard and I have a head cold now too. I'm working through it though. I have one week until finals and this week is going to be super busy. I'm a HUGE procrastinator, but I need to buckle down and work today so that I'm not regretting it later. Have a great day everyone!

Tumblr

So I have a few friends that I wanted to follow on Tumblr, so I created an account. I'll probably be less active on that than I am on this, but if you are interested, here's the link. It has the same url as my blog, just at tumblr.com, not blogspot.com.

Bright Blue Nail Polish

Today was just as long as yesterday, but I'm in a much better mood. It was time to repaint my nails, so I picked a bright happy color. It's funny how much a little thing like nail polish can affect my mood. My brother helps. He is the funniest thing ever. I love my brother. I'm also in a good mood because I get to go to Bible study tonight! I love hanging out with people at ABS. I always come home refreshed. I have to leave in an hour though, so I think I should get some homework done.

Hoy es Martes

And the good things about today end there. I won't say much since I don't have a lot of good things to say. Today was super long. I really can't wait for Graduation. Second semester is going to take forever, which sucks. I'm trying to stay positive, but by the end of the school day I am mentally exhausted, and today was our first day back! I'm blowing off my homework tonight for Costco, which will hurt me later, but I need the distraction. Only three days left and I have ABS tomorrow night. YAY!

P.S.

There was enough snow for my sister to make a little snow child...

God is Good

Everything happens for a reason. The snow isn't very impressive, but it was enough to cancel school today. At about 10:30 last night, some people called our house needing a place to stay. They are friends of my grandparents and they had been on the road for thirteen plus hours. The snow and ice caused the freeway to close and all the hotels along the freeway we completely full. They were told to call us and they did. Thanks to the school closures, we were able to shuffle us four kids around to give them a place to sleep last night. There are no accidents or coincidences. God set this whole thing up and I am so thankful.
It will probably be back to business as usual tomorrow, but the extra day was nice, made even better by the opportunity to lend a helping hand. Have a great day everyone!

Another Give Away!

Happy 2011 everyone! So far, this year has been great. Knott's Berry Farm was super fun yesterday. We basically walked on all the rides and had to wait in very few lines. Today is a nice, calm hang out day. School starts up again tomorrow, but there is SNOW forecasted for tonight, so hopefully we will get an extra day off. Sometimes Sweet is hosting another giveaway! Head on over and check out the wonderful sponsors she has this month. The creativity of people never ceases to amaze me.
