Wicked

Yesterday was so amazing! The show was amazing, plus I got to spend the whole afternoon with my mom. We got down to Costa Mesa around 3:30. We walked around the South Coast Plaza a bit and tried on dresses in Macy's for an hour. The make-up counters are right next to the junior's section, so we got our make-up done before heading to dinner. Here's the embarrassing bit. We looked up restaurants in the AAA tour book before we went. We chose a restaurant because it said 'American cuisine from $12-$47'. Sounds reasonable, right? Wrong. The appetizers were $12. So, we talked to our waiter and walked out. Whoops...So we went and parked the car in the parking garage for the event and walked to T.G.I. Fridays. We both ate for $38 and enjoyed our meal. Then we walked back to the hall that the show was in, took our seats and waited for the show to start.
The show was absolutely fantastic. I didn't want it to end. I could watch this play over and over and over again and never be bored. I love musicals. I would rather go see a play than a movie. I'm so happy that I got to go see Wicked and spend the day with my mom. :)

New Design

So I'm testing out some new design elements, mainly text changes. Is it too hard to read?

Spring Break!

YES!!!! Two weeks off...sorta. I still have homework and swim practice, but that's to be expected. Today was great. I played Scrabble in French class, pigged out in Spanish and laughed in government. Someone drew a picture of me in French.
And my friend drew on my car after school.
My school's beauty pageant for guys is tonight. (Mr. Sundevil) I'm super excited. Tomorrow I'm going to sleep 'til noon and go to church and maybe watch Inception. We'll see. Only four more days 'til Wicked!!

Oh Boy

Hi! I do still exist! I have not fallen off the face of the planet...yet. Things have been crazy busy. But the end is in sight, finally. I have three more days of school and then two weeks off for Spring Break! The weather has been just as crazy as my schedule. It was warm last week and now this week we are having some winter-like storms...not fun. I love the cold, but the week of warm weather was so nice. We are in the process of putting a pool in and I would like the weather to be warm enough to actually use it. I'll leave you with some pics of the pool and I promise I'll be back by the end of the week to catch up more.
The beginning, back in February...

We did NOT want traditional blue pool tile...so we followed the desert and went brown instead.

Right after the concrete was poured...we have a rock instead of a diving board...

What it looks like today! The gates are coming on Friday. Then we are waiting for the final inspection so we can do the plaster and pour the water and swim!

ps....Exactly one week from today, my mom and I are going to see Wicked!

Spring is in the Air

Today is gorgeous. I wore shorts to school today! I'm not quite ready for winter to be over, but the warm sun sure felt good today. This afternoon, I took advantage of the good weather and read outside.

My cat, Snickers, got in on the fun.
Today was a good day, as was yesterday. Hopefully, the rest of the week goes just as well. I have youth group after swim tonight, and I'm super excited. Have a nice rest of the day/week!

Monday Again

Another Monday, another long week ahead. On the plus side, I have no homework to finish tonight, so I can get caught up on my 100 books project. I am so behind. I can also get to bed somewhat early tonight. Tomorrow I get to have lunch with a good friend. Super excited about that. On the minus side, the wind has been blowing non-stop. I hate the wind. In other news, after months of not going to the movies, I went to two in the last three weeks. I saw I Am Number Four three weeks ago and Beastly last weekend. I Am Number Four was both creepy and entertaining. Number Six made me want a motorcycle and an accent. She was definitely my favorite. Beastly was good, but I must say I liked the book better. I'm totally a sucker for Beauty and the Beast stories. Favorite fairy tale EVER. I'm hoping to get to see Rango soon and I'm dying to see Soul Surfer. If you haven't seen previews for that yet, click here. It looks amazing. Have a good week everyone!

Hello March!

The pretty sky on the last day of February.

Yay! March is finally here! I have so much to look forward to this month! Unfortunately, all the good stuff comes at the end of the month, not the beginning. But turning the page of my calendar makes those things seem that much closer! Spring break starts on the 28th, my mom and I are going to Costa Mesa to see Wicked on the 29th and I get to house sit for someone the 31st through the 3rd! I'll know by next week whether or not I got the job I applied/interviewed for. (The interview went great, by the way.) I do have a quick question for any poetry lovers out there. We have individual poetry assignments to do over the next few months and I don't know what poem to pick. My poet is Wilfred Owen and I can choose between "Anthem for Doomed Youth", "Dulce et Decorum Est", and "Disabled". So far I think I like "Dulce" and "Disabled" best, but I'm leaning more towards "Disabled". Any opinions?
