Last Post of 2010

I won't say that this year has flown by, but it is pretty amazing that it's almost over. Before I get to the new stuff, let me tie up some loose ends on the old stuff. We had a very nice Christmas. We got most of what we were asking for and enjoyed the time spent with family. We're keeping things pretty quiet for New Year's as well. I'm going to Knott's Berry Farm with a couple of my friends on Saturday and I'm super excited. I'm also very excited for 2011. It's going to be a pretty big year for me. Lots of new things are in store.
I'm not a huge fan of making New Year's resolutions, but this year, I think I'll make a few little ones.
1. Graduate high school with my sanity intact. First semester was crazy. I can't even imagine how much I'll have to deal with second semester.
2. Get all my stuff for college ready so that I am prepared to move. I'm moving twelve hours away, which is just as scary as it is exciting.
3. Keep God involved with everything. I often fall into the habit of pushing God aside, or only remembering Him during my devotions. He is a huge part of my life and I want to keep it that way, since my life really belongs to Him anyway.
Anyone else have a resolution?
Have a very happy New Year!

I'm a Lobo!

One of my Christmas presents came in the mail today and I am super excited! Wanna see? Of course you do. Look!

As you know, I'm going to the University of New Mexico (blogged here). This is a sweatshirt from the aforementioned university and I am super excited. It makes college a little bit more real. I'll blog a little more on Christmas later, I was just super excited about this.

Merry Christmas Eve

Have a wonderful Christmas everyone! Remember the reason for the season. My family is shaking things up this year. we're going to church at 9:30 tonight and opening gifts after. My grandparents are coming up tomorrow to celebrate both Christmas and my birthday. Normally, we are out of town for Christmas because our family lives elsewhere. This year, most of my family is out of town, so we decided to stay home. Now to explain my random post from yesterday. We went out as a family yesterday and I was taken out to dinner for my birthday. We went to this amazing fish restaurant. They had alligator on the menu, so we decided to try it. Turns out, it doesn't taste like chicken. Tastes more like fish, go figure. Anyway, we really enjoyed ourselves and the food was great.

Water

I am currently 'rained in'. Our desert doesn't absorb water well. Half of our roads are closed and there is standing water everywhere we look. We are, however, seeing the sun again for the first time since Sunday. Here are some pictures I took yesterday and today of the amount of water we have.
The wash in the dirt lot across the street from my house.
More of the wash.
The wash, further up.
See? We don't handle water well. Our desert is now a lake.

Christmas Parties!

This is a little late, but better late than never right? I had some great fun over the weekend. Friday, a bunch of my friends came over and we messed around and played games and ate a ton of food. Saturday, we had our Christmas party at church. It was so much fun. The theme was 'dress to impress' which gave me the chance to get a little itty bit overdressed, which was fun.
These last couple days I've just been vegging out at home and relaxing. It has been raining steadily since Sunday night and I'm loving it. (I'll have pictures of the flooding and stuff later.)
In other news, I went to see The Voyage of the Dawn Treader today. It sucked. They basically took the plot from the book, which was amazing, if I do say so myself, and crumpled it up and burned it. The movie was cheesy and lame and not at all what I was wanting it to be. I am so disappointed. If they continue with the Narnia movies, they need to start following the books more closely. Why bother making a book into a movie if you are going to change everything about the plot. Call it something else, at least, or don't make it at all. Goodness.
Ranting over. Deep breath and moving on. Like I said, I'll get some pictures of the rain and stuff up soon. Only 4 more days 'til Christmas!

Good Stuff

I am feeling so much better. I wasn't sick, but I was kind of in a slump. I'm over it now though. I have so much fun stuff to look forward to. My youth group is going caroling tonight and I have swim practice again tomorrow. Friday is a half day and the last day of school before break. I am so excited. I'm also having a little bit of a birthday party on Friday. It will be nice to just hang out and chill without school hanging over our heads. Here's some pics from my party last year.

Fun stuff, right? Anyway, the weather is FINALLY getting cold! We're supposed to get some rain, so I'm crossing my fingers for snow. Who knows? Maybe we'll get a white Christmas here in the good ol' desert.

Je ne sais pas.

I'm ending my daily picture posts. I know you're all upset, but even I have to admit they were getting lame. I felt that they got in the way of other stuff that I wanted to blog about. There was some good stuff in there though, so there's that. I'm not really in a good mood tonight, so I'll keep it short, just in case I say something I'll regret.

Day 24 and 25

a picture of what I did today.
a picture that I edited.
Well, besides school, I haven't really done anything today. I'm going to a comedy night at my church, but that's about it. As you can see, I've changed my blog a bit. I'm horrible with html and anything of the sort, so this is the best I can do. It's sad, I know. I'm horrible at picture editing as well. The weather here is still abnormally warm which makes it kind of hard to get into the Christmas spirit. But not that hard. Only 15 more days!

Perspective

Day 23- a picture that describes my life
*weheartit*
I love this picture. It's so hard to remember to keep things in perspective as life is piling up on me. There are so many things that need to be done, too many commitments. So much is going on that it is easy to forget the reasons that I even do these crazy things in the first place. I've mentioned God before, but I honestly could not get anything done if I did not have Him. My life would have no purpose. I've been trying to handle things on my own lately, but I stopped today and remembered to give my worries to God. I gave Him the rest of my day and I felt a huge burden lift from my shoulders. Yes, I still have a million things to take care of. Yes, I'm still concerned about certain aspects of my life right now, but knowing that I have given these things to God has given me peace about what is out of my control.

Christmas!

I loved the Glee Christmas episode! As cheesy as it was, I love that about this time of year. The Grinch was always one of my favorite Christmas movies (the old animated Dr. Seuss version). I love Christmas music and I love Christmas. My birthday is actually Christmas day. This really is my favorite time of year. Haha, can you tell my mood has improved drastically? It's all the warm fuzzies that the Christmas season gives me!

And don't forget...HE is the reason for the season!

Update

Day 22: a picture of me
It is December 7 and it is still over 60 degrees here in our loverly desert. I wish winter would start already. I have been so busy lately, and my schedule is not getting any lighter. I turned in my job application to the movie theater and pre-season practice for swim starts tomorrow. The semester doesn't end until January, but my economics class is finishing the semester early, and I still have a B. I have been studying my butt off so that I pass our three-test final with a high A to ensure an A in the class. I am exhausted. Plus Christmas and my birthday are fast approaching.
Sorry. I don't mean to be a complainer/whiner. That's never fun to listen to. I can't wait until Christmas break. I'll have a lighter, happier post the next time. Sorry about my lack of posting.
